The genesis of Submersus
Submersus was founded over two decades ago as a diving school guided by the DIR (Doing It Right) system — an approach that values efficiency, teamwork, and safety in every detail. From the beginning, we adopted the Hogarthian configuration as standard in all our courses, believing that a truly competent diver must master a balanced, simple, and functional system. This foundation allows us to train consistent, safe divers prepared for any underwater challenge, from recreational to the most demanding technical diving.
What Submersus is today
Submersus is now much more than a school. It is a center with several complementary areas of activity:
-
Recreational and technical diving school, with qualified technical diving instructors, with extensive experience in various agencies and licensed by the IPDJ (Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth).
-
A fully licensed filling station by IPDJ, providing 200/300 bar fillings, nitrox, and trimix, complying with current regulations for breathing gases and guaranteeing their quality and safety.
-
A licensed equipment rental center, authorized by IPDJ, ensuring maintenance and certification of all equipment.
-
A physical and online store — through the portal xpertdiver.com — where we officially sell the most renowned diving brands, offering technical and recreational equipment with specialized advice.
Why a club?
The organization of Submersus as a diving club was born from the desire to create a united community, where each diver shares the same vision of the activity, the same values, and an efficient technical standard. The objective is to promote team spirit, homogeneity in practices, and the ability to dive as a team, ensuring that all members communicate and act harmoniously, regardless of their level of training.
